AT&T Samsung Galaxy S6 Active is now receiving Android 6.0 Marshmallow update

Samsung Galaxy S6
The Samsung Galaxy S6 Active is resistant enough to get used as a hockey puck and carries some good specs. It’s a great phone for those with demanding lifestyles, but one downside is that updating carrier-exclusive handsets can get slow; especially when they are not main flagships.
Users rocking this device have been waiting for their Android Marshmallow treat for quite some time, but now it’s time to start checking for updates. AT&T has announced Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow is ready start hitting Samsung Galaxy S6 Active handsets across the country and the update is rolling out today, July 5th.

This update brings the phone’s software to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and weighs 1441 MB. Yes, that is a large file, so make sure you are charged up and connected to a WiFi network (before using up all that precious data).

There is a valid reason why this update is large. Jumping to Marshmallow is a significant step, as it brings a bevy of improvements and new features. These include Google Now on Tap, Doze mode, native fingerprint support, Android Pay, adoptable microSD storage and more. The only other improvement seems to be the inclusion of WiFi calling capabilities.

Go ahead and jump into the settings to find out if your update is available! That is, if you haven’t gotten a notification yet. Be patient, though. Remember these OTA updates can take a bit to show up. Have any of you gotten it already? Hit the comments to let us know how Marshmallow is treating you!
