Device That Can Detect Malaria Within 5 Secs And Its Coming To Nigeria This Summer
We do know already that malaria is one of the most deadliest disease in the whole wide world, even if its curable and can be prevented, but the World Health Organization (WHO) said that in 2015 438,000 people died due to malaria especially in the Sub-Sahara Africa.
A 26 years old PhD student Mr John Lewandowski in mechanical engineering at MIT design a mechanical device called Rapid Assessment of Malaria (RAM) that can diagnose malaria from a of blood within five seconds only. Just a single drop of blood, Lewandowski Rapid Assessment of Malaria device can accurately detect the presence of malaria using Magneto Optical Detection as early as a week before the symptoms even present it self, just like a pregnancy test which gives out a positive or negative response likewise RAM also. Past the outer field and LCD display, the RAM is composed especially of a circuit board, a laser, a few magnets and an SD card reader. Very soon the company will launch a new field trail this summer in Nigeria, hope are going to test at least 30% - 70% Nigerian's. Isn't this a superb development, coming to Nigeria.
