Another 4G phone, meet Huawei Honor 5C With Kirin 650 SoC & Premium Metal Unibody Build
Huawei today formally announced the Honor 5C in China. The latest Honor-branded smartphone shares quite a lot in common with Huawei’s new P9 Lite, but at a much lower price point.
The Honor 5C comes with a 5.2-inch 1080 x 1920 Full HD resolution IPS display, with a pixel density of 424 pixels per inch. Powering the Honor 5C is the company’s new Kirin 650 mid-range octa-core SoC. It includes four ARM Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 2.0GHz and four ARM Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.7GHz. Moving on to memory now, the Honor 5C offers 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. A microSD card slot is included as well, which means you will be able to expand the storage further by up to 128GB.
At the back, the Honor 5C includes a 13MP primary snapper with an f/2.0 aperture lens and a single-LED flash. For selfies, you get an 8MP sensor on the front, which is also paired with an f/2.0 aperture lens. Below the primary camera at the back, there sits a fingerprint scanner, just like the Huawei P9 Lite.
Connectivity features on the Honor 5C include Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, FM radio, and support for LTE Cat.6 networks (maximum download speeds up to 300 Mbps). No USB Type-C port though, the Honor 5C features the good old Micro USB 2.0 connector instead. In terms of dimensions, the Honor 5C measures 147.1 x 73.8 x 8.3mm and weighs in at 156 grams. The smartphone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with the EMUI custom UI layer on top, version 4.1 to be specific.
The Honor 5C will be available in two variants for the Chinese market – a 3G-only model and another with 4G LTE connectivity. The former has been priced at 899 Yuan ($139), while the latter has been priced at 999 Yuan ($155). Sales kick off today in China, but global availability info is yet to arrive.
